Condition reports

Documented. Date-stamped. Available on request.

Every piece is photographed and reported on at acquisition. Major handling events update the record. Collectors can request a current condition report at any time.

What gets documented

Three layers per piece.

Surface

Paint film, varnish, patina, photographic emulsion, fiber tension — whatever the medium calls for. Date-stamped photography from consistent angles.

Structure

Stretcher, panel, base, armature, mounting hardware. Notes on any prior conservation work disclosed in the chain.

Frame

Frame condition, glazing if present, hanging hardware. Original frames noted separately from gallery-supplied framing.

Conservation events update the chain. The original baseline never moves; the new entry references it explicitly. The full history of the work’s physical state is preserved.
